Key Store Backup Error that occurs during install with Dell Data Protection | Enterprise Edition v9.0 that is installed on a non-operating system boot disk.

Resolution

Note: This issue was resolved in v9.1.5.

Work Around:

Add a link between the root directory and the directory this is installed in with this command:

mklink /D "C:\Program Files\Dell" "X:\Program Files\Dell"
Note: X is the drive location where Dell Data Protection | Encryption is installed.

The upgrade or migration can now be complete.

Once completed there are three options to remove:

  • Leave the link.
  • Manually delete the link in Windows Explorer:

Program Files

Remove it with:
rmdir "C:\Program Files\Dell"

This should allow Dell Data Protection | Enterprise Edition to function completely without issues.
