Windows 10, 8, 8.1 e 7* non dispongono della funzionalità nativa di riproduzione di DVD e Blu-ray. Per riprodurre film DVD e Blu-Ray è necessario utilizzare l'app Windows DVD Player (nessun supporto Blu-ray) o un'app di terze parti.
Nota: Se si esegue Windows 7 Home Basic o Windows 7 Starter, è possibile eseguire l'aggiornamento a Windows 7 Home Premium, Ultimate o Enterprise per aggiungere la funzionalità DVD completa oppure acquistare e installare un'app per riprodurre film DVD compatibile.
