PowerEdge: 14G - One or more system fans run at full speed unexpectedly

Symptoms
A PowerEdge 14G with older iDRAC firmware versions may encounter one system fan (often fan 3 (3A/3B)) or all system fans run at full speed seemingly without cause.
A secondary symptom of this same overall problem is fan RPM errors. Depending on the server platform, these fan RPM errors have also been reported on fan 1 (1A/1B), fan 5 (5A/5B), and fan 8 (8A/8B).
Cause
Outdated iDRAC firmware has been found to cause this issue.
Resolution
Dell Engineering is aware of the issue and has released an iDRAC firmware update to resolve that issue.
This firmware is available for download from the Dell.com/support/drivers website. The latest iDRAC version is available in this article.
