The following article provides information on how to remove QuickBooks from your Dell PC using the Windows operating system.
There may come a time when you are looking to uninstall your current version of QuickBooks from your system.
This could be because you are changing to another accounts package, you are upgrading your system or your version of the program itself or that you have had an issue with the program that requires you to fully remove the program before reinstalling.
The guide below will take you through accomplishing this on any of the current Windows Operating Systems (OS).
On your keyboard, press the Win+E keys together to open the Computer window.
Click Uninstall or change a program.
In the list of programs, select QuickBooks and click Uninstall.
Follow the instructions to uninstall QuickBooks.
Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
In the list of programs, select QuickBooks and click Remove.
Follow the instructions to remove QuickBooks.
On rare occasions, it may be necessary to manually remove QuickBooks installation files and folders that are left behind by the Microsoft® Add or Remove Programs/Programs and Features utility. Performing this procedure is often referred as a clean install or a clean uninstall and may help isolate or resolve problems with QuickBooks or just ensure it is fully removed from your system.
Click the Start button and select Settings>Control Panel.
Select Add/Remove Programs in XP and in Windows Vista/7/8 select Programs > Programs and Features.
Select QuickBooks and click Change or Remove Programs for XP and in Windows Vista/7/8 select Uninstall.
Repeat steps 1 though 3 above to also uninstall the QuickBooks Product Listing service.
The clean uninstall procedure requires manually removing or renaming some QuickBooks installation folders.
If you do not have other Intuit products installed on your computer - such as Quicken, QuickTax, ProFile, other versions of QuickBooks, etc, then remove or rename the Intuit folders listed below.
If you do have other Intuit products installed on your computer, remove or rename only the Intuit folders listed below.
If the Application Data or Program Data folder is not visible.
Right-click on the Start button and select Explore.
Select the Tools menu, and select Folder options.
Click the View tab, and select Show hidden files and folders in the Advanced settings field.
Click the Start button and select Computer.
In the upper left corner, click the Organize button.
Select Folder and Search Options.
Click the View tab and click Show hidden files and folders.
Once this completes restart your system to ensure QuickBooks is completely removed from your system.
