How to Identify VID and PID Information for a USB Device Connected to a Wyse ThinOS Device

This article provides instructions on how to capture VID and PID information for USB devices that are used with Wyse ThinOS or Wyse ThinOS PCOIP thin clients for configuration and troubleshooting.

1. Open System Information. If using Classic Desktop Display Mode, go to Step 2 for more information. If using Zero Launchpad Display Mode, go to Step 3 for more information.
2. Click Desktop, and then click System Information. Go to Step 4.
   
3. Click the System Information icon from the taskbar on the left side of the screen. Go to Step 4.
   
4. Select the Event Log tab.
   
5. Scroll to the bottom of the Event Log.
   
6. Insert the USB device. Information about the USB device is added in the Event Log.
    
   Note: In the example image, a USB thumb drive is used.
7. Locate the USB: line and record the information.
    
   Note:

   • In this example, the USB: line of USB data that is logged contains the VID and PID information for the thumb drive.
   • Depending on the type of USB device in use, there could be multiple entries that begin with USB:. For example, a headset with a microphone may have multiple USB: entries. Document all USB: entries that are related to the USB device.
