Symptoms

  •  The server receives a shutdown request after the critical system inlet threshold alert is triggered in the SEL

 

2020-11-22 17:58:52 10567 SYS1001 The system is turning off.
2020-11-22 17:58:52 10566 SYS1003 System CPU Resetting
2020-11-22 17:58:49 10565 ISM0007 The iDRAC Service Module communication with iDRAC has ended.
2020-11-22 17:58:47 10564 RAC0704 Requested system powerdown
2020-11-22 17:58:44 10563 TMP0121 The system inlet temperature is greater than the upper critical threshold.

Cause

  • The shutdown is triggered by iDRAC as the critical temperature alert action was set to 'Power Off'.  
  • The System Inlet Temperature will not proactively shut down the system.

Resolution

  • The recommended setting is 'No Action'.
  • The setting can be changed using UI or racadm.
  • UI: Configuration > System Settings > Alert Configuration > Alerts > Alert Configuration > "Enclosure Temp Probe" or "Temperature"
  • racadm : 
    racadm eventfilters set -c idrac.alert.system.tmp.critical -a none -n ipmi, snmp
