Symptoms
After pushing an AppSync 4.2.0.x agent to a host, or when discovering a host with a 4.2.0.x agent installed, you may see the following pop-up message
"Error while discovering SAP HANA system on <host name>"
You can see the following error in the agent logs:
2021-03-29 09:10:18.827 common.py[37]:runSystemCommand() Running command : : ['/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/saphostctrl', '-function', 'ListDatabases']
2021-03-29 09:10:19.968 hana.py[692]:isSupportedVersion() Error:Unsupported SAP HANA version 12.1.0.2.0
Cause
The issue is caused by the host having SAP installed but not SAP HANA. AppSync uses the query below to determine if SAP HANA is installed and if the version is supported:
'/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/saphostctrl', '-function', 'ListDatabases'
AppSync expects an error when SAP HANA is not installed. But if another SAP product is installed, this command may not return an error and AppSync will not recognize the product as supported. It will then display the pop-up message during discovery.
Resolution
This error does not prevent AppSync from discovering or protecting Oracle Databases or Linux/Unix File Systems, so you may ignore it.
