PSQN: iDRAC9 5.00.20.10: Ethernet and Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter V2 Support
Summary: This article is intended to clarify when iDRAC9 firmware 5.00.20.10 should be installed on Dell EMC PowerEdge servers.
Symptoms
Dell EMC iDRAC9 firmware version 5.00.20.10 was posted to the dell.com/support site in February 2022. This release is a follow up to the December 2021 firmware release of iDRAC9 5.00.20.00. It includes the addition of support for new V2 Ethernet and fibre host bus adapters.
iDRAC9 version 5.00.20.10 has a newer release date than the latest iDRAC9 feature release (firmware 5.10.00.00). The 5.00.20.10 firmware is not considered an upgrade to version 5.10.00.00. iDRAC9 firmware version 5.10.00.00 does not include support for "V2" Ethernet and fibre host bus adapters.
Additional information for iDRAC9 firmware 5.00.20.20 is found in the online release notes at: iDRAC9 Version 5.00.20.10 Release Notes (dell.com).
Cause
Due to global component supply shortages, many vendors had to implement minor hardware changes to meet supply demands. iDRAC9 firmware version 5.00.20.10 is required to introduce support for these new hardware changes.
Resolution
iDRAC9 firmware version 5.00.20.10 is only recommended for Dell PowerEdge servers that shipped with "V2" versions of Mellanox, QLogic, Emulex, Broadcom, or Intel adapters. iDRAC9 5.00.20.10 adds out-of-band support for these new adapters.
To identify when these adapters are present, review original order details for "V2" in line item details.
Example:

In March 2022, iDRAC9 5.10.10.00 adds support for "V2" Ethernet and fibre host bus adapters along with the full feature set of iDRAC9 5.10.00.00 feature release.
