Windows Update KB5012170 May Ask for a BitLocker Recovery Password

Symptoms

Windows presents the BitLocker Recovery screen after the KB5012170 update is installed, and the computer reboots (Figure 1).

Cause

Issue with Windows Update KB5012170.

Resolution

Windows Update

Microsoft changed KB5012170 to an optional update on September 20, 2022 and resolved the issue with KB5022905.
