Symptoms

The SRDF attributes of volumes are automatically removed when removing devices from a storage group in Unisphere. For example, this device is RDF1+TDEV before removing it from the TEST_RDF group:
SRDF Volume

After removing it from the storage group, the device is now a TDEV:
Volume now TDEV

Cause

The following message appears when removing the device from the SG:

Pop-up message

Unisphere automatically issues a 'deletepair' operation against the devices when this checkbox is selected. This is to maintain SRDF SG manageability, as users do not want SRDF and non-SRDF devices in an SG as this makes it unmanageable.

Resolution

This behavior is by design. If the SRDF relationship is required to be removed, do not check the box when removing devices from the storage group.
