Il report sos è un pacchetto di log che raccoglie vari registri di sistema, file di configurazione e output di comando da un sistema Linux. Si tratta di un metodo standardizzato per raccogliere informazioni diagnostiche dal sistema operativo affinché vengano analizzate dagli ingegneri del dominio Dell e dal supporto dei vendor Linux.
In Ubuntu Linux Server, il pacchetto 'sosreport' fornisce il comando sos report, che in genere viene installato per impostazione predefinita.
Per verificare l'installazione del pacchetto:

Se per qualche motivo il pacchetto 'sosreport' non è installato, può essere installato usando il seguente comando:
$ sudo apt install sosreport
Per generare un report SOS in modalità interattiva, utilizzare uno dei seguenti comandi:
$ sudo sosreport
Or
$ sudo sos report
Nota: Il comando 'sosreport' è deprecato a favore della sintassi più recente 'sos report'. Tuttavia, entrambi i formati funzionano a partire da Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
Facoltativamente, includere il --batch Opzione per una modalità non interattiva:
$ sudo sos report -–batch
Il pacchetto di log (e il file checksum associato) viene in genere salvato in /tmp/. Le versioni precedenti di Linux possono essere salvate in una posizione diversa, ma è specificato nell'output del comando.
Esempio:
