PowerVault MD24: SHMCLI does not show enclosures attached to PERC H965e

Symptoms

  • iDRAC shows connected storage as DSES 0.0 with associated controller PERC H965e Adapter

  • SHMCLI version is shown
    • Version 3.2.0.18 as of 12/2023

  • SHMCLI command to list enclosures for the H965e states "No physical enclosures found for the specified adapter." 
    • shmcli list enclosures -a=2
      • Where 2 is the adapter number for the H965e from the command "shmcli list adapters"

Cause

The PERC H965e device driver must be updated to the latest for the host operating system.

Resolution

Download and install the latest driver for your host operating system.
  1. Open the Dell support site
  2. Enter the Server information for the connected server into the search
  3. Choose the affected server model
  4. Choose Drivers and Downloads
  5. Choose supported operating system from dropdown
  6. Search and find H965e driver with "H965e" in the search box
  7. Download latest version and install

  • Once the driver is updated, run the same commands from above to list one or more enclosures and you could see the attached enclosure details.
