PowerEdge: R860|R960 "PST0128: No memory found" error displayed during POST with DDR5 96GB DIMMs
Summary: PowerEdge R860 and R960 servers with a Medium Core Count (MCC) CPU with 96GB DIMMs fail to recognize the memory with a critical error at POST.
Symptoms
PowerEdge R860 and R960 servers configured with an MCC CPU and a 96GB DIMM fail to recognize the memory. A "No memory found" error is displayed. This indicates that the MCC CPU does not support a 96GB DIMM.

Cause
According to Intel’s specifications for 96GB DIMM support, only the Extreme Core Count (XCC) CPU supports this type of DIMM. The MCC CPU does not.
Therefore, for any validation involving a 96GB DIMM, an XCC CPU must be used instead of an MCC CPU.
Resolution
96GB DDR5 RDIMM is supported on R860 and R960 starting from BIOS 1.6.6 version with XCC CPU only.

Review the following rules:
- 96GB DIMM is supported with Xeon XCC processors(84xxH), not with MCC processors(64xxH).
- Only 8 DIMMs or 16 DIMMs per CPU are supported.
- Update the BIOS to Version 1.6.6 or later.
Ensure that these guidelines are followed for optimal performance.
