Dell Connectivity product basics:

What are the Connectivity Products?

  • Secure Connect Gateway (SCG)
  • OpenManage Enterprise Services Plugin
  • OpenManage Enterprise CloudIQ Plugin

What do these products do?

  • SCG reduces server cost-of-ownership by ingesting real-time alerts and creating support cases automatically. It also automatically collects logs at case creation and at timed intervals for known good comparisons. This reduces support complexity and time to resolve real world issues. It offers an appliance and application version.
  • OpenManage Enterprise Services plug-in offers the same features as SCG, except that it is integrated directly into OpenManage Enterprise allowing for a single pane of glass for all life-cycle management tasks.
  • OpenManage Enterprise CloudIQ plug-in consumes telemetry collected by OpenManage Enterprise and offers proactive guidance and predictive analytics to detect issues, and displays this information in a Cloud portal accessible to the customer anywhere.

  • Single pane of glass for Dial home functionality and LCM tasks
  • Perfect for large environments with varied iDRAC credentials

Disadvantages:

  • Supports fewer device types than SCG

  • OpenManage Enterprise CloudIQ plug-in

Advantages:

  • Can be used to collect additional Telemetry that the Services plug-in does not
