Dell Optimizer and MyDell Network Features Do Not Work in Windows 11 24H2

Symptoms

Automatic Network Switching: If you boot with location services off, no networks are listed. Network selection will not detect and switch networks. If you boot with location services on but then switch it off, the listed network information is old.

Simultaneous Data Transfer: Will not route traffic to Wi-Fi. The Wi-fi driver continues to work and roam as normal.

Network Based Contextual Privacy: Will not function correctly in terms of changes/reactions to network history.

Cause

Location Services is disabled in Windows settings under Privacy & Security > Location (Figure 1).

Resolution

Location Services

To resolve this behavior, Enable Location Services in Windows.

Manual settings change:

  1. Open Windows Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & security > Location.
  3. Enable Location Services (Figure 2).

Command Line Instruction:
Using the following in the Command Line to Enable Location Services:
start ms-settings:privacy-location
