Dell Ultrasharp Monitors may Exhibit Various Issues

Summary: Dell Ultrasharp U2725QE and U3225QE monitors may exhibit issues with the ambient light sensor, USB hubs, waking from sleep, and with Multi-Stream Transport (MST).

Symptoms

Affected Products:

  • Dell UltraSharp 27 4K Thunderbolt Hub Monitor U2725QE
  • Dell UltraSharp 32 4K Thunderbolt Hub Monitor U3225QE

The monitor may display several issues when connected to a computer:

  1. The ambient light sensor continuously adjusts the brightness.
  2. When connected using a Thunderbolt (primarily observed in MacBook), the USB hub is recognized as a USB 2.0 device.
  3. LID closed is not enumerated when waking from sleep
  4. Second display not detected after waking from modern standby using daisy chain

Cause

Firmware code issues and enhancements.

Resolution

The engineering department has released a monitor firmware update M2T102, A01. The updated firmware is posted on the monitor's support page.

Note: The M2T102, A01 update addresses the ambient light sensor continuously adjusting the brightness issue.
