PowerStore: PUHC to Confirm Primary Control Path and Primary Database Hosted by Same Appliance
Summary: This Pre-Upgrade Health Check (PUHC) applies to multiappliance clusters and ensures that the same appliance hosts internal PowerStore components (primary Control Path (CP), and primary database). If different appliances host these internal components, it may cause unpredictable behavior, especially during a Non-Disruptive Upgrade (NDU). The issue is resolved in PowerStore version 4.0 but can occur during upgrades from earlier versions. ...
Symptoms
PUHC to confirm that the same appliance hosts the Primary ControlPath and Primary Database.
If the PUHC detects different appliances host these internal components, the PowerStore Manager UI displays the following:

Impact
If an NDU were to run with this underlying issue, the NDU may fail and require manual intervention.
Cause
In rare cases, different appliances may host CP and databases following issues encountered during a prior NDU that include system restarts during critical upgrade phases. These restarts may result in the loss of necessary state data, preventing the system from generating the required command to manage eligibility.
Resolution
This issue is resolved starting with PowerStoreOS version 4.0. A workaround must be applied to an affected system on versions prior to PowerStoreOS 4.0 before starting an NDU. Contact Dell Technical Support and refer to this article for assistance remediating this issue.
