PowerEdge: Intel NIC Family Version 24.0.0 Firmware for Intel adapters "Requires Power Cycle for activating the updated firmware" cosmetic alert.
Summary: Linux-based Dell Update Packages (DUPs) for Intel Network cards on firmware family 24.0.0 may display the message "Requires Power Cycle for activating the updated firmware".
Symptoms
During Linux firmware update using DUP, the message: “Requires Power Cycle for activating the updated firmware” appears before install.
Example below shows version 24.0.3 displaying this message

Version 24.0.5 below clarifies

Message will display "Reboot Required for activating the updated firmware" which is a warm OS reboot.
This is observed across legacy adapters using Linux OS for firmware updates. i.e E810, E823, I350, X550, X710, XXV710, XL710.
Does not affect Windows, iDRAC, or Lifecycle Controller DUP usage.
Cause
The DUP framework incorrectly flags a power cycle requirement due to changes introduced in recent framework versions. This is a cosmetic issue and does not impact functionality.
Resolution
No action required beyond a standard WARM reboot.
Ignore the “Power Cycle” message; it does not apply.
Issue is documented in the update file prompt and in firmware release notes {346725}.
