Dell Pro Precision Laptops Lose the Intel USBIO Bridge Device During Boot or Reboot

Symptoms

The laptop may lose the Intel USB Input/Output (USBIO) bridge device during the following circumstances:

  • After a cold boot
  • After a warm reboot
  • After resuming from sleep
  • After resuming from hibernation
Note: No error message appears on-screen. However, any USB device on that bridge controller may not work as expected in the operating system.

Affected Platforms:

  • Dell Pro Precision 7 14 PW714260
  • Dell Pro Precision 7 16 PW716260

Affected Operating System:

  • Windows 11

Cause

The power state setting is not correct which causes the initial USB device to fail in the BIOS.

Resolution

Note: Before starting the update, perform the following:
  1. Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to: Back Up and Recovery
  2. Connect the AC adapter

Updating the Dell Pro Precision 7 14 PW714260 and 7 16 PW716260 System BIOS to version 1.1.0 or later on the laptop resolves the issue. To download and install the Dell_Pro_Precision_7_14_16_PW714260_PW716260_1.1.0.exe file, refer to the: BIOS Update Guide
