Running Backup Report Card for Last Week time period causes backup jobs to show on wrong day

Issue


Running Backup Report Card with time period for "Last Week" causes backup jobs to show on wrong day.

For example a backup job that was run on 16 June will appear in the Report Card Report with the date of 15th of June.
Cause
This is a known Bug/Defect in Data Protection Advisor.

This is an caused by a code error in the way the time period of the report is processed. With the time period of last week the days may not align to 00:00 to 23:59, but instead to a different start and end time.  For example the time period be 10:15 AM on 15 June to 10:15 AM on 16 June.  This can lead to a backup which completed on June 15 to appear on June 16. 
 
Resolution
Resolved in Data Protection Advisor 6.5.0 patch b88 and above version.

The Patch is available through Dell EMC Technical Support.

Workaround:

If you are unable to upgrade to a version of DPA which includes a fix for this issue it is possible to workaround the problem by creating a new time period that starts at 00:00 7 days ago and ends at 23:59 1 day ago.  This will align the time periods to the columns and resolve this reporting issue. To do this follow the below procedure:

In the DPA GUI go to Admin>System>Manage Time Periods.  In the Manage Time Periods box click the Create Time Period button:

In the Window Properties box that opens click the Create Time Period button:

In the Time Properties box create a Start time for 7 days ago 00:00 and an End time of1 day ago 23:59. configure each as show below:

Click OK button and select these two time in the Windows Properties box and click OK:

Once the new time period is created go to Reports>Report Jobs>Scheduled Reports, open the Scheduled Report Card report you wish to attach the new time period to and use this new time period, Previous 7 Days.
Note that this time period can also be use when running the Report Card report ad hoc.
