Síntomas

Backups complete successfully, but the daemon.raw log file grows continuously. NetWorker logs repeated errors related to jobsdb when a backup starts: database disk image is malformed

Example error in daemon.raw:

nsrjobd RAP critical Error returned on resource creation: database disk image is malformed
Multiple messages from nsrjobd in daemon.raw indicate a malformed jobsdb database disk image.
NetWorker may report a critical error at the start of each backup, even though the backup succeeds.

Causa

The issue occurs due to an inconsistent or corrupted stat.db file located in:

  • Linux: /nsr/res/statistics/stat.db
  • Windows (Default): C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res\statistics\stat.db

This corruption triggers repeated jobsdb related errors during backup operations.

Resolución

  1. Stop NetWorker services:
  • Linux: nsrshutdown or systemctl stop networker
  • Windows: net stop nsrexecd /y
  1. Delete or rename the stat.db file:
  • Linux: /nsr/res/statistics/stat.db
  • Windows (Default): C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res\statistics\stat.db
  1. Rename the daemon.raw file:
  • Linux: /nsr/logs/daemon.raw
  • Windows (default): C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\logs\daemon.raw
  1. Start NetWorker again:
  • Linux: systemctl start networker
  • Windows: net start nsrd
    • If the Windows NetWorker server is also the NetWorker Management Console (NMC) server, run: net start gstd
  1. Start a backup and confirm that no more messages "disk image is malformed" are logged in the daemon.raw.
