The Brighness in Windows Mobility Center Does Not Correspond with the On Screen Display in Windows 7
 

The brightness level as reported in the Windows Mobility Center in Windows 7 may not correspond to the bightness on the Dell Quickset On Screen Display (OSD), which will show the brightness at the maximum level. Adjusting the brightness level using the <Fn> + <Down> or <Up> key combinations has no effect on the reported level with the Quickset OSD. Additionally, after a few moments of adjusting the brightness using the keyboard combinations, the Windows Mobility Center will revert to the maximum brightness setting (Figure 1).

Currently, updating the system BIOS and installing a new version of Quickset are the only two possible solutions, but may not resolve the compatibility issue. Old versions of Quickset are incompatible with Windows 7.

Download and Install the Latest Version of Dell™ QuickSet
 

To download and install the latest version of Dell Quickset, perform the following steps:

1. Click here to enter the Drivers and Downloads page.

2. Click on

   Enter a Tag

   to use your service tag to find the driver, then click

   Go

   .
    

   	Note:
   	If the Service Tag is not available, click on Select Model , select the appropriate Product Type and Product Model, then click Confirm .

3. Select the operating system installed on your computer from the Operating System: dropdown box.

4. Select Applications from the Category: dropdown box.

5. Click the desired driver for your system displayed in the File Title(s) column to display the download page.

    

   	Note:
   	If you have the information provided from the online System Information utility or your invoice, please refer to this for what drivers to download.

   
   Review the information on the page and take note of  Installation Instructions, and Important Information.

6. Click Download. You may receive a warning and an option to run or save the file.

7. Click Save.

8. When the Save As window appears, designate a folder to save the file that is being downloaded and click Save. The download progress window displays.

9. When the download is complete, follow the instructions provided in the Installation Instructions.

Hämta och installera den senaste BIOS-uppdateringen
 

1. Bläddra till sidan Drivrutiner och nedladdningar.

2. Klicka på Ange ett service tag om du vill använda service tag-numret till att söka efter BIOS-uppdateringen.

    

   	Obs!
   	Om service tag-numret inte är tillgängligt klickar du på Välj modell och väljer lämplig produkttyp och produktmodell.

3. Klicka på Skicka.

4. Välj önskade inställningar för operativsystem, drivrutinsspråk och prioritet från listrutorna (bild 1). Listrutan Kategori ska vara inställd på BIOS.

    

   Operativsystem:         Windows Vista, 32-bitars Drivrutinens språk:         Engelska Kategori:         BIOS Betydelse:         Alla

5. Välj vilket BIOS-uppdateringspaket du vill hämta från kolumnen Filtitel så visas filhämtningssidan.

    

   	Obs!
   	Om onlineverktyget för systeminformation eller fakturan innehåller information om vilka drivrutiner som ska hämtas använder du den informationen.

6. Läs information på sidan.

7. Klicka på Hämta nu. Det kan hända att en varning visas med en uppmaning om att köra eller spara filen.

    

   	Obs!
   	Om fönstret för Dells hanterare för nedladdning av drivrutiner visas klickar du på Install (installera).

8. Klicka på Save (spara).

9. När fönstret Spara som visas väljer du en mapp där du vill spara filen du hämtar och klickar sedan på Spara.

10. När hämtningen är klar klickar du på Open Folder (öppna mapp) i Dells hanterare för nedladdning av drivrutiner.

11. Dubbelklicka på filen och följ installationsanvisningarna.
