OMSA 1.x Processes in Linux 2.1 Advanced Server May Not Shut Down When Switching to Single-User Mode - Product Support Quick Note (PSQN) - 177948

Síntomas

OMSA 1.x processes in Linux may not shut down when switching to single-user mode.

Dell™ OpenManage™ Server Administrator (OMSA) 1.7 and 1.8 may leave processes running after switching to single-user mode specifically on Red Hat Linux 2.1 Advanced Server. The omsad service creates additional threads when started; however, this process may fail to stop when manually stopping the service or when issuing the command init 1 to switch the system into single-user mode. Restarting the system works correctly since all remaining processes are terminated before the system reboots.

NOTE:  Dell Software Engineering plans to address this issue in a future OMSA release.

As a workaround, perform the following step:

Use the "ps -aux" command to list the process ID and "kill" command to stop the service.

List the omsad process ID using the command ps -aux, and use the Linux command kill with the ID to manually stop the omsad service.
