NVP vProxy: VM backup fails with "Failed to get status of create snapshot task: Operation timed out"

Symptômes

The NetWorker VMware Protection integration is configured with the vProxy Appliance. The backups workflow fails to create the virtual machine (VM) snapshot with an Operation timed out message. The vProxy backup workflow shows the operation timed out after approximately 15 minutes:

YYYY/MM/DD 23:03:50 ERROR:  [NW_BUILD] Failed to get status of create snapshot task: Operation timed out.
YYYY/MM/DD 23:03:50 ERROR:  [NW_BUILD] Failed to create snapshot.
YYYY/MM/DD 23:03:50 ERROR:  [NW_BUILD] Unable to create snapshot of virtual machine: Failed to create snapshot.

Cause

The backups workflow requests the VMware snapshot creation at the start of a backup, then requests the removal at the end of the backup workflow. The operations are requested using vCenter Application Programming Interface (API) requests. The creation, management, and deletion of VM snapshots are handled through VMware.

Résolution

The VM snapshot request duration must be investigated at the VMware level. If required contact VMware support for further assistance with the VM snapshot time-out.
