Symptômes



Unable to add VM client to Avamar through GUI. Receive pop-up error message as below:   
 
<entry key="exception" type="text" value="com.avamar.mc.cr.Client cannot be cast to com.avamar.mc.vmware.VmClient" version="1"/>

Cause

Customer had already added that VM as guest client, however, in Avamar server didn t allow duplicate client for both image and guest level backup.
 
dmin@avamar:/usr/local/avamar/var/mc/server_data/prefs/>: grep dup mcserver.xml
              <entry key="allow_duplicate_client_names" value="false" />

Résolution

Change "allow_duplicate_client_names" value from  false  to  true , and restart MCS service.

dpnctl stop mcs
dpnctl start mcs
dpnctl start sched
