OptiPlex 7010 Desktop (DT) Removal Guide for the System Cover, Front Bezel, Expansion Card, Hard Drive and Optical Drive

1. System Cover Removal

1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the System Cover Removal:

• During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly
• Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer
• Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

2. Establishing image.



3. Locate the cover latch at the side of the chassis. Pull the cover latch upward.



4. Pull the cover upward to a 45 degree angle and remove it from the system.



5. Complete.

2. Front Bezel Removal

1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Front Bezel Removal:

• During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly
• Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer
• Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets
• Remove the system cover.

2. Establishing image.



3. Gently pry the three front bezel retention clips away from the chassis.



4. Rotate the bezel away from the computer to release the hooks on the opposite edge of the bezel from the chassis.



5. Complete.

3. Expansion Card Removal

1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Expansion Card Removal:

• During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly
• Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer
• Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets
• Remove the system cover.

2. Establishing image.



3. Rotate the release tab on the card-retention latch upward.



4. Gently pull the release lever away from the PCIe x16 card until you release the securing tab from the dent in the card, and then ease the card up and out of its connector and remove it from the system.



5. Lift the PCIe x1 expansion card up and out of its connector and remove it from the system. (if any).



6. Lift the PCI expansion card up and out of its connector and remove it from the system. (if any).



7. Lift the PCI x4 expansion card up and out of its connector and remove it from the system. (if any).



8. Complete.

4. Hard Drive Removal

1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Hard Drive Removal:

• During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly
• Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer
• Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets
• Remove the system cover.

2. Establishing image.



3. Remove the data cable(1) and power cable(2) from the back of the hard drive.



4. Press the hard drive bracket latch toward the hard drive and lift it upward.



5. Flex the hard drive bracket then remove the single 3.5" hard drive or two 2.5" hard drives from the bracket.



6. Turn over the hard drive bracket and release the four screws securing the 2.5" hard drive to the underside of the bracket.



7. Flex the hard drive bracket then remove the two 2.5" hard drives from the bracket.



8. Release the four screws securing the 2.5" hard drive to the top of the hard drive bracket.



9. Release the four screws securing the 2.5" hard drive to the underside of the hard drive bracket.



10. Complete.

5. Optical Drive Removal

1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Optical Drive Removal:

• During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly
• Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer
• Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets
• Remove the system cover and front bezel

2. Establishing image.



3. Remove the data cable(1) and power cable(2) from the back of the optical drive.



4. Slide the optical drive latch and then push the optical drive from the back toward the front of the system.



5. Complete.
