Użytkownik może być stale proszony o podanie hasła administratora szyfrowania (EAP) po aktualizacji usługi Shield do wersji od 8.13 do 8.15.

Czasami osłona może nieprawidłowo identyfikować zainstalowany w komputerze moduł Hardware Crypto-Accelerator.

W takim przypadku w dzienniku usługi Shield widoczne są następujące wpisy dziennika: C:\ProgramData\Dell\Dell Data Protection\Encryption:

SystemProvision: 766 I] Enc Accel Provisioning - Begin
SystemProvision: 782 H] Enc Accel Provisioning - Is GPE installed and available for use? - TRUE
SecurePwd.cpp: 585 E] Secured password is already UNLOCKED.
GPEDevice.cpp: 76 E] Failed to take GPE ownership [result=0x5], "DCR_NOT_FOUND"
SystemProvision: 800 E] Enc Accel Provisioning - Failed to provision GPE because it is already owned with EAP different than the current one. Clear your GPE lifecycle!!!!
Następnym krokiem jest edycja rejestru systemu Windows:

W przypadku podejrzenia, że komputer nie został dostarczony z modułem Hardware Crypto-Accelerator, problem ten można rozwiązać, tworząc następujący klucz rejestru:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ST7007

Utworzenie pliku .reg o następującej zawartości, a następnie zaimportowanie go do rejestru powoduje automatyczne utworzenie wymaganego klucza:
