USB Device Might Need More Power Message When Connecting an iPhone to a Dell Laptop

Note: If an iPhone is connected to the computer during POST, you also receive a similar error during post and a BIOS event is logged. The computer also stops at this error until the end users clicks continue.

Cause
The iPhone requests a higher power rate (9v/ 12v/ 14.8v/ 15v /18.7-21v) than the computer can provide. The computer can only provide 5v 3A (left side port) and 5v 1.5A (right side port).
Resolution
You can disable the error during post by Enabling Continue on errors:
- Boot the computer to the BIOS by pressing the F2 key on the Dell logo.
- Go to Post Behavior
- Warnings and Errors: Selects an action on encountering a warning or error during boot
- Enable Continue on errors
You can disable the Windows error by clearing Notify me if there are issue connecting a USB device.
- Right-click the warning in Windows to go to the options for it.
- Clear Notify me if there are issue connecting a USB device
