PowerEdge: AD user password expiry alert in vSphere H5 Client

  1. vCenter login by Active Directory users have notification "Password expires in 26 days"
    vsphere client
  2. If swapped to Administrator user login vCenter, have not notification "Password expires in X day"
    vsphere client

原因

The Active Directory password expiration notification is separate from the vCenter Server SSO password expiration. The default password expiration notification for an Active Directory user is 30 days, but the password expiration depends on your Active Directory system. The vSphere Client controls the expiration notification. You can change the default expiration notification to meet the security standards in your corporation.

解决方案

  1. SSH log in to the vCenter Server CLI
    putty 
  2. Change directory to the location of the vSphere Client webclient.properties file
    Note: 5 Client - /etc/vmware/vsphere-ui/webclient.properties
    cd /etc/vmware/vsphere-ui
    putty 
    putty 
  3. Open the webclient.properties file with a text editor
    vim  /etc/vmware/vsphere-ui/webclient.properties
    putty 
  4. Edit the following variable,  sso.pending.password.expiration.notification.days = 30 -a 5
    putty 
  5. Restart the vSphere Client
    service-control --stop vsphere-ui
    service-control --start vsphere-ui
    putty 
  6. vCenter logged in by Active Directory users again, the notification "Password expires in 26 days" was gone
