Format

/sys/rlog create [-enabled {yes|no}] [-host <value>] [-port <value>] [-protocol {udp|tcp}] [-facility {KERN | USER | Syslog}] [-severity {emergency | alert | critical | error | warning | notice | info | debug}] [-category {all | user | audit | authentication}]

Object qualifier

QualifierDescription
-enabledSpecify to enable remote system logging. Valid values are (case-insensitive):
  • yes
  • no
If you specify yes, include -host <value>, where the value is the IP address of the target remote host that receives the logs.
-hostType the IP address or network name of the remote host that receives the log files. Value is one of the following:
  • <IPv4 address>
  • <IPv6 address>
  • <network name>
NOTE:The new IP address and port combination cannot be identical to any existing remote host address.
-portType the port number on which the host receives the transferred log information. Default is 514.
-protocolType the protocol for transferring the log files. Valid values are (case-insensitive):
  • tcp
  • udp
  • tls
-facilityType the facility that processes the log files. Value is one of the following (case-insensitive):
  • KERN—Kernel messages.
  • USER (default)—User-level messages.
  • Syslog—Message generated internally by syslog.
-severityType the least severe of the log files to be sent to the remote host. Value is one of the following (case-insensitive):
  • emergency
  • alert
  • critical
  • error
  • warning
  • notice
  • info
  • debug
NOTE: For example, debug is the default severity. When it is typed, all user/audit logs are sent to the remote host. When emergency is typed, only logs of emergency severity are sent to the remote host.
-category Specifies the category to be used to process the log. The valid values are:
  • all
  • user
  • audit
  • authentication
The default value is all.

Example

The following command configures remote system logging with these settings:

  • Remote target host is 10.10.10.10 .
  • Uses host port 8181.
  • Uses protocol tcp.
  • Uses the syslog facility.
  • Uses the notice severity.
uemcli -d 10.0.0.1 -u Local/joe -p MyPassword456! /sys/rlog set –enabled yes –host 10.10.10.10 –port 8181 –protocol TCP -facility syslog -severity notice
Storage system address: 10.0.0.1
Storage system port: 443
HTTPS connection
