Removing the keyboard

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. base cover
    2. battery
    3. keyboard lattice
  3. To remove the keyboard:
    1. Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard cable from the connector on the system [1].
    2. Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard backlight cable from the connector on the system [2].
      NOTE Number of cables to disconnect is based on the keyboard type.

    3. Lift the latch and disconnect the cable from the connector on the system board [3].
    4. Lift the latch and disconnect the cable from the connector on the system board [4].
    5. Turn over the system and open the laptop in front view mode.
    6. Remove the M2 x 2.5 (6) screws that secure the keyboard to the system [1].
    7. Flip the keyboard from the bottom and lift it from the system along with the keyboard cable and the keyboard back light cable [2].
      WARNING Gently pull the keyboard cable and the keyboard back light cable routed beneath the chassis frame to avoid damaging the cables.
