Removing the I/O-board FPC cable (for computers shipped with WWAN support)
CAUTION:The information in this removal section is intended for authorized service technicians only.
NOTE:The information in this removal section is only applicable for computers that are shipped with WWAN support.
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the SIM card, if applicable.
- Remove the base cover.
About this task

Steps
- Using the pull tab, disconnect the I/O-board cable from the connector (JIO1) on the system board.
- Remove the I/O-board cable from the routing guides on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
- Remove the screw (M2x2.5) that secures the WLAN-thermal shield to the system board.
- Slide the WLAN-thermal shield to the left and lift the shield off the system board.
- Disconnect the WLAN-antenna cables from the connectors (B and W) on the WLAN-antenna module.
- Remove the WLAN-antenna cables from the routing guides on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
- Remove the I/O-board FPC cable from the routing guide beneath the coin-cell battery.
- Peel off the coin-cell battery from the I/O-board FPC cable.
- Open the latch and disconnect the I/O-board FPC cable from the connector (JWWAN1) on the I/O board.
- Open the latch and disconnect the other end of the I/O-board FPC cable from the connector (JWWAN1) to the system board.
- Lift the I/O-board FPC cable off the computer.
