Removing the system board

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the side cover.
  3. Remove the hard-drive assembly.
  4. Remove the solid-state drive.
  5. Remove the WLAN card.
  6. Remove the fan assembly.
  7. Remove the heat-sink.
  8. Remove the memory module.
  9. Remove the speaker.
  10. Remove the processor.

Steps

  1. Remove the screw (6-32) that secures the hard drive support to the system board.
  2. Lift the hard drive support away from the system board.
  3. Remove the two (M3x4) screws and three (6-32) screws that secure the system board to the chassis.
  4. Lift the system board away from the chassis.
