Removing the power button with fingerprint reader

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.
  3. Remove the I/O board.
  4. Remove the I/O-board cable.

About this task

The following image indicates the location of the power button with fingerprint reader and provides a visual representation of the removal procedure.

Steps

  1. Remove the screw (M2x3) that secures the power button with fingerprint reader to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  2. Lift the mylar covering the fingerprint-reader cable.
  3. Peel the fingerprint reader cable from the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  4. Lift the power button, along with fingerprint reader cable, off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
