Dell PowerEdge XE9785 Installation and Service Manual
Safety Instructions
WARNING:Opening or
removing the system cover while the system is powered on may expose you to a risk
of electric shock.
WARNING:Do not operate
the system without the cover for a duration
exceeding five minutes. Operating the system without the system cover can result
in component damage.
CAUTION:Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.
NOTE:It is recommended that you always use an antistatic mat and antistatic strap while working on components inside the
system.
NOTE:Only use certified Optical Fiber Transceiver Class I Laser Products.
CAUTION:Lift the system by using the provided lifting handles on chassis and
refrain from using clips or other chassis points to lift the system.
Non-designated lift-points on the chassis may cause system damage due to the
inability to support the system weight while lifting.
CAUTION:When replacing a chassis or server node, drives must be transferred from the
original system to the replacement unit. Incorrect drive placement can result in
data loss or system issues. To reduce the risk of misidentification, label each
drive prior to removal. Ensure the label does not obstruct airflow and remove it
only after all drives have been reinstalled into their original corresponding slots,
the server has passed all required health checks, and the work has been completed.
For warranty chassis replacements, move one drive at a time, transferring it
directly to the corresponding slot in the replacement chassis.
