Applying the thermal pad on the M.2 heat spreader

The XR8720t system requires to have a thermal pad installed on the M.2 heat spreader on the HPM and the dual M.2 riser.

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.

Steps

  1. If applicable peel off the existing thermal pad from the heat spreader.

  2. Peel off the release film on the bottom of the thermal pad.
  3. Align with the screw holes and attach the thermal pad on top of the heat spreader on the HPM or the dual M.2 riser (Slot 0 and Slot 1).
  4. Peel off the relese film on the top of the thermal pad.
