Installing the expansion card risers
Prerequisites
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
- Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.
- If removed, install the expansion cards into the expansion card risers.
CAUTION: Do not install GPUs, network cards, or other PCIe devices on your system that are not validated and tested by Dell. Damage caused by unauthorized and invalidated hardware installation will null and void the system warranty.
Steps
- For Riser R2a, align the guide pin, the front guide, and the stand off and
insert it in to the sled vertically. Press down on the blue touch point firmly
to engage the connector and tighten the captive screw (6.0 +/- 0.2 in-lbf) to
secure the riser .

- For Riser R1b, align the guide pin, the front guide, and the stand off and
insert it in to the sled vertically. Press down on the blue touch point firmly
to engage the connector and tighten the two captive screws (6.0 +/- 0.2 in-lbf)
to secure the riser .
