Installing the HPM board
Prerequisites
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
- Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
- If you are replacing the HPM board, remove all the components that are listed in the removing the HPM board section.
Steps
- Unpack the new HPM board assembly.
CAUTION: Do not lift the system board by holding a memory module, processor, or other components.CAUTION:Take care not to damage the system identification button while placing the HPM board into the chassis.
- Align the standoffs on the chassis floor with the screw holes on the HPM.
- Slide the HPM board towards the front of the chassis until the connectors are firmly seated in the slots on the chassis wall.
- Insert and tighten the four screws to secure the HPM board.

Next steps
- Replace the following components:
- Dual M.2 riser
- Air shroud
- Cooling fans
- Memory modules
- PDB
- OCXO module
- For Network Optimized configuration:
- For Flexible configuration:
- Reconnect all cables to the HPM board.
NOTE:The M.2 SSD from the old HPM board has to be moved to the new part.NOTE:The thermal pad on the M.2 SSD heat spreader on the HPM needs to be applied on the new part, for steps refer : Applying the thermal pad on the heat spreader
- Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.
