Installing the HPM board

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
  3. If you are replacing the HPM board, remove all the components that are listed in the removing the HPM board section.

Steps

  1. Unpack the new HPM board assembly.
    CAUTION: Do not lift the system board by holding a memory module, processor, or other components.
    CAUTION:Take care not to damage the system identification button while placing the HPM board into the chassis.
  2. Align the standoffs on the chassis floor with the screw holes on the HPM.
  3. Slide the HPM board towards the front of the chassis until the connectors are firmly seated in the slots on the chassis wall.
  4. Insert and tighten the four screws to secure the HPM board.

Next steps

  1. Replace the following components:
    1. Dual M.2 riser
    2. Air shroud
    3. Cooling fans
    4. Memory modules
    5. PDB
    6. OCXO module
    7. For Network Optimized configuration:
    8. For Flexible configuration:
  2. Reconnect all cables to the HPM board.
    NOTE:The M.2 SSD from the old HPM board has to be moved to the new part.
    NOTE:The thermal pad on the M.2 SSD heat spreader on the HPM needs to be applied on the new part, for steps refer : Applying the thermal pad on the heat spreader
  3. Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.
