Installing the heat sink—Discrete GPU

CAUTION:The information in this installation section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation process.

About this task

The following images indicate the location of the heat sink on computers that are shipped with discrete GPUs and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Steps

  1. Align the screw holes on the fan and heat sink with the screw holes on the system board.
  2. In sequential order (1>2>3>4>5>6), tighten the six captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.
