Removing the CPU fan
CAUTION: The information in this removal section is intended for authorized service technicians only.
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the base cover.
About this task
Steps
- Remove the three screws (M2x4.5) that secure the fan to the system board and palm rest and keyboard assembly.CAUTION:Do not hold the fan assembly at the center, as it may damage the center bearing.
- Open the latch and disconnect the fan cable from the connector (FAN2) on the system board.
- Lift the fan off the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
