Installing the system board
Prerequisites
About this task
The following image indicates the connectors on your system board.

- display cable
- power-adapter port-cable
- keyboard-backlight cable
- keyboard cable
- touchpad cable
- speaker cable
- I/O-board cable
- fan cable
The following image(s) indicate the location of the system board and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.



Steps
- Place the system board on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
- Align the screw holes on the system board with the screw holes on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
- Replace the two screws (M2x2) that secure the system board to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
- Place the Type-C port-bracket on the system board.
- Replace the two screws (M2x4) that secure the Type-C port-bracket to the system board.
- Connect the keyboard-backlight cable to the connector on the system board and close the latch.
NOTE This step is only applicable if you are installing a backlit keyboard on your computer.
- Connect the keyboard cable to the connector on the system board and close the latch.
- Connect the touchpad cable to the connector on the system board and close the latch.
- Connect the speaker cable to the system board.
- Connect the I/O-board cable to the connector on the system board and close the latch.
- Connect the fan cable to the system board.
- Connect the display cable to the connector on the system board and close the latch.
- Adhere the tape that secures the display-cable connector latch to the system board.
- Connect the power-adapter port cable to the system board,
- Adhere the tape that covers the power-adapter cable-connector on the system board.
- Close the right-display hinge and align the screw holes on the right-display hinge with the screw holes on the system board.
- Replace the two screws (M2.5x4) that secure the right-display hinge to the system board.
Next steps
- Install the heat sink.
- Install the wireless card.
- Install the memory.
- Install the M.2 2280 solid-state drive.
- Install the M.2 2230 solid-state drive.
- Install the 3-cell battery or the 4-cell battery, whichever applicable.
- Install the base cover.
- Follow the procedure in After working inside your computer.
