Removing the system board - UMA

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.
  3. Remove the battery (3-cell or 4-cell).
  4. Remove the coin-cell battery.
  5. Remove the M.2 2280 SSD.
  6. Remove the M.2 2230 SSD.
  7. Remove the WLAN card.
  8. Remove the system fan.
  9. Remove the heat sink.
  10. Remove the memory module.
  11. Remove the display assembly.

Slide the system board

Steps

  1. Remove two screws (M2.5x4), and lift the left hinge.
  2. Remove the transparent sticker covering the display cable to the system board.
  3. Open the latch, and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
  4. Remove the transparent sticker covering the DC-in port cable to the system board.
  5. Disconnect the DC-in port cable from the system board.
  6. Lift the mylar cover, and disconnect the fan cable.
  7. Peel the adhesive tape, open the latch, and disconnect the I/O cable to the system board.
  8. Remove the adhesive stickers.
  9. Remove the two screws (M2x3) that secure the USB Type-C port bracket to the system board.
  10. Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
  11. Open the latch, and disconnect the touchpad cable from the system board.
  12. Open the latch, and disconnect the keyboard-backlight cable from the system board.
  13. Open the latch, and disconnect the keypad cable from the system board.
  14. Remove two screws (M2x3) from the system board.
  15. Gently release the ports on the system board from the slots on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly and lift the system board off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
