Installing the smart card reader (For computers shipped with smart card reader)

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

About this task

The following image indicates the location of the smart card reader and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Steps

  1. Align and place the smart card reader on its slot on the palm-rest assembly.
  2. Replace the four screws (M2x2.2) that secure the smart card reader to the palm-rest assembly.
  3. Connect the smart card reader cable to the connector (EC406) on the USH board and close the latch.
  4. Replace the protective film over the USH board.

  2. Install the base cover.
