Removing the smart card reader (For computers shipped with smart card reader)

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.
  3. Remove the battery.

Steps

  1. Peel off the protective film from the USH board.
  2. Open the latch and disconnect the smart card reader cable from the connector (EC406) on the USH board.
  3. Remove the four screws (M2x2.2) that secure the smart card reader to the palm-rest assembly.
  4. Lift the smart card reader along with its cable from the palm-rest assembly.
