Removing the keyboard

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the Palm-rest and keyboard assembly.

Steps

  1. On the palm-rest and keyboard assembly, open the latches and disconnect the two indicated cables that are connected to the MCU board.
  2. Remove the 23 screws (M1.4x1.3) that secure the keyboard to the palm-rest assembly.
  3. Partially peel the Mylar tape that covers the two disconnect MCU cables.
  4. Carefully thread the disconnected MCU cables through the slots on the palm-rest assembly.
  5. Lift the keyboard off the palm-rest assembly.
