Removing the base cover
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in
Before working inside your computer.
NOTE Ensure that your computer is in Service Mode. For more information see, step 6 in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the SD card.
- Remove the SIM card tray.
About this task
Steps
- Loosen the eight captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
- Using a plastic scribe, pry open the base cover starting from the recesses that are located in the U-shaped indents near the hinges at the top edge of the base cover.
NOTE Do not lift the base cover from the top side immediately after prying it from the recesses, as this will cause damage to the base cover.
- Work your way around the sides of the base cover.
- Hold the left and right sides of the base cover, and remove the base cover from the system.
NOTE If the thermal pad on the back of the base cover gets detached, adhere it back onto the cover.
