Removing the heat sink
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in
Before working inside your computer.
NOTE Ensure that your computer is in Service Mode. For more information see, step 6 in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the SD card.
- Remove the SIM card tray.
- Remove the base cover.
About this task
The following image indicates the location of the heat sink and provides a visual representation of the removal procedure.
NOTE To remove the heatsink shielding cover, pry it open from the recess located at its top right corner.
Steps
- Remove the heat shield cover.
- Peel off the heat absorber for the DDR5 onboard memory from the heat-sink.
- Loosen the three captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.
- Lift the heat sink off the system board.
