Installing the I/O board

CAUTION:The information in this installation section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

The following images indicate the location of the I/O board and provide a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Align and place the I/O board in the slot on the palm-rest assembly.
Replace the four screws (M2x3) to secure the I/O board to the palm-rest assembly.
Connect the following to the I/O board:
1. Fingerprint-reader cable
2. Darwin cable
3. Fan cable
4. Touchpad cable
5. Speaker cable
Align and place the fingerprint-reader bracket over the fingerprint-reader cable and replace the screw (M2x3) to secure the fingerprint-reader bracket to the I/O board.
NOTE: The fingerprint-reader bracket covers both the fingerprint-reader connector and the Darwin-cable connector. Models that are shipped without fingerprint reader will still have a fingerprint-reader bracket that covers the Darwin-cable connector.
Route the WWAN-antenna cables through the routing guides on the I/O board.
Adhere the USH-board cable on the I/O board (for models shipped with a USH board).

Install the system board.
NOTE:The system board can be removed and installed with the heat sink attached in order to simplify the procedure and preserve the thermal bond between the system board and heat sink.
Install the M.2 2230 solid state drive or the M.2 2280 solid state drive, as applicable.
Install the WWAN card, if applicable.
Install the battery.
Install the base cover.
Install the SIM-card tray, if applicable.
