Installing the system board

CAUTION:The information in this installation section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

The following images indicate the location of the system board and provide a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Align and place the system board in its slot on the palm-rest assembly.
For computers shipped without WWAN card, replace the four screws (M2x3) and the two screws (M2x4) to secure the system board to the palm-rest assembly.
For computers shipped with WWAN card, remove the four screws (M2x3) and the three screws (M2x4) to secure the system board to the palm-rest assembly.
Connect the following cables to the system board:
1. Display cable
2. Camera cable
3. Touchpad cable
4. USH-board cable (for models shipped with a USH board)
Align and place the display-cable bracket and replace the two screws (M2x3) to secure the display-cable bracket to the system board.
Connect the WLAN-antenna cables to the connectors on the WLAN card.
Align and place the WLAN bracket on the system board.
Replace the screw (M2x3) to secure the WLAN-card bracket to the system board.

Install the heat sink.
Install the M.2 2230 solid state drive or the M.2 2280 solid state drive, as applicable.
Install the WWAN card, if applicable.
Install the battery.
Install the base cover.
Install the SIM-card tray, if applicable.
