Replacing the NVRAM backup battery - Option A

WARNING: There is a danger of a new battery exploding if it is incorrectly installed. Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions. See the safety instructions that came with your system for additional information.

Locate the system battery on the system.
To remove the battery:
1. Push the battery toward the positive side of the battery until the battery disengages from the connector.
2. Lift the battery away from the system.

To install a new system battery:
1. Hold the battery with the "+" sign facing the positive side of the battery connector.
2. Insert the battery down into the connector and push the positive side of the battery until the battery snaps into place.

Install the following:
1. Drive backplane
2. Drives
Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system .
Enter the System Setup to confirm that the battery is operating properly.
Enter the correct time and date in the System Setup's Time and Date fields.
Exit the System Setup.
To test the newly installed battery, remove the system from the enclosure, for at least an hour.
Reinstall the system into the enclosure, after an hour.
